Stephen Absalom was born in 1823 in Wilcot, Wiltshire England and died at Schnapper Point on 25 December 1906 aged 83 years. He married Ann Elizabeth Smith on 1 May 1852.

They boarded the ship the "Rose of Sharon" on 10 January 1855, and reached Sydney in April 1855 after a voyage of three months.

Stephen bought land and helped develop the area known as Green Island (Benton’s Road-Craigie Road). He farmed, established a slaughter yard and butchery in partnership with his sons.

Ann Elizabeth Absalom b. Moorooduc in 1865. Married Albert Edward Wilson in 1884, son of Charles Bowman Wilson. They had seven children, and Ann died at Prince Henry’s Hospital in Melbourne in 1895. Georgina Avis Absalom b. Moorooduc 1869. Married Charles Wilson, son of John Bowman Wilson on 25 February 1892. After the death of Charles in 1895, Georgina married James Male in 1900. She died in Somerville in 1938 aged 69 years.
