Caleb Joshua Jenner

Florence Marion Gillett


Florence Gillett was born in Melbourne, in 1869, the daughter of Caleb Joshua Jenner and his wife Eliza Ann.

Caleb Jenner, Florence’s father was a successful businessman in Melbourne, who, upon entering politics, became a member of the Lower House of Parliament.

He also purchased one of Mornington’s stately homes, "Beleura", as the family home.
Florence married Francis (Frank) Joseph Gillett in 1871, and their only child, Stella, was born in 1873.
Frank was one of four children of Francis Alfred Gillett, and his wife Alice.

Sunnyside

Francis Gillett Snr. designed "Manyung", the home of Sir James Grice, and also the Church of England Vicarage.

He also built the lovely home "Sunnyside" in Mount Eliza, in 1869. Florence spent many years in Gippsland with her husband Frank, who was a Grazier.

Then, in the 1920’s, she and her daughter Stella, moved to 25 Morell Street Mornington.
Florence died in May, 1944, aged 75 years.
She is buried in the Mornington Cemetery.
