The Hutchins family has been fishing around Mornington since 1867.
Neville and Dalton’s grandfather, Thomas William Hutchins started this place off just before 1900.
The original shack was much smaller and set back into the cliff, 3 to 4 metres.
The whole lot washed away in a storm and then he built another one.
Their father took over just before World War II and extended the shack, effectively doubling it
At that time, the business included hiring out boats, surfboards and kayaks.

Except for about five years when their father was sick, they’ve always been here. What fish to catch and where to go has all been handed down since 1867.
