Fruitgrowers Hall c.1920s. This Hall was destroyed
in a bushfire in about 1945.

Somerville Mechanics Institute was opened in 1891, when the opening of the railway station had encouraged more rapid growth of the area.

The land for the institute was donated by Henry Gomm, with public subscriptions, bazaars and other fundraising methods used to raise money to build the Institute.
